What We Do
Roots and Reins Equine-Assisted Mental Health and Learning offers equine-assisted learning sessions focused on personal growth and self-discovery through hands-on experiences with horses. Sessions help participants build self-awareness, confidence, communication, and emotional regulation in a calm and supportive environment. All activities are ground based and focus on connection and observation. Sessions are offered for children, teens, and adults, and offer space to reflect, grow, and practice new ways of relating - both with the horses and in daily life.
Roots and Reins also partners with a licensed clinician, Julia Franklin, LMHC, to offer Equine-Assisted Therapy sessions. These sessions integrate traditional therapeutic principals with the presence of horses to support clients in developing self-awareness, emotional regulation, and connection. Julia currently works with teens and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, substance misuse, as well as Veterans and their families. Julia provides individual and family therapy.
Our Mission
At Roots & Reins, our mission is to create a safe and supportive space where individuals can heal, learn, and grow through connection with horses. We believe that lasting change happens from the ground up - through self-awareness, authentic relationships, and compassion.
